I don’t really go for most comedy music. Song parodies typically do almost nothing for me. I like humor, and I like music, but for them to work together they have to both be really good, and this typically doesn’t work out all that well. But there are a couple funny bands I can enjoy both as comedians and musicians, and first among those are Flight of the Conchords. This song is really funny- with lines like “You’re so beautiful, like a tree or a high-class prostitute”- but it also just really works as a song. It’s a tricky move, but it’s one that Bret and Jemaine pull off flawlessly. And personally, I really appreciate that.
